Elegance Iris
I found this beautiful red and yellow Iris in a garden in Billings Montana. The owner had about 2 acres of different Iris and I just fell in love with her garden.
I took many pictures and this Iris is one of a series of many. Don’t the colors just glow?? I love how the yellow petals compliment the dark, dusky reds. I really tried to show the velvety texture of the darker petals.
My original watercolor paintings are all painted on Arches 300# Bright white 100% cotton archival watercolor paper. I never paint with colors that will fade. Watercolors have a reputation for fading, but only because artists did not have the newer pigments available that do not fade or lose their vibrancy.
I keep my colors limited to 3 to 5 transparent pigments so never have to worry about dull and lifeless colors! You can be sure that my original watercolor paintings will last a lifetime and beyond with the proper care.
If you love my watercolor painting but it has been sold, you can purchase prints of this image. All my prints and canvas wraps are carefully printed using inks that will not fade or lose vibrancy and are printed on archival paper or canvas.
